Mani
Alejandro
I was born on 3 September 2009, at 9:47pm in Mexico City. At that time, I weighed 6.2 lb (2.8Kg) and measured 19.3 inches (49cm) long.
Why is my name Mani Alejandro? My parents are asking me to --like them-- respect Eastern traditions as well as my Western heritage. They want to remind me, and themselves, why they met in India. They say that Mani means jewel in Sanskrit, and that it is a part of the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum, which has a very profound meaning to Tibetans and Buddhists worldwide. Mani and Padme (my big sister's name, which means lotus flower) are two important and indivisible concepts in the Buddhist path to purity of body, speech and mind. Every lotus flower has a jewel inside; as such, the lotus is the jewel, and the jewel is the lotus. Alejandro represents the Hellenic cultural legacy which I continue, and means protector of men. This name also honors my paternal grandfather, whose name was Alex. Alex, as well as my other grandparents, will surely greatly influence the person I will be.
We all want to share our joy with you!
